Taxi in after landing at Langley Regional (CYNJ)
Langley Regional (CYNJ) · Practises taxiing in after landing: reading back a frequency change, then requesting and reading back taxi instructions to your parking area (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Landing p. 41 and Taxi Instructions After Landing p. 45).
Taxi request at Boundary Bay (CZBB)
Boundary Bay (CZBB) · Practises a taxi request at a towered aerodrome that assigns a transponder code along with the taxi route, and reading all of it back correctly (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Taxi p. 21, Transponder Phraseology p. 5; TC AIM RAC 4.2).
Uncontrolled aerodrome arrival at Chilliwack (CYCW, MF)
Chilliwack (CYCW) · Practises the self-announced calls used arriving at an uncontrolled aerodrome on the mandatory frequency: an inbound call, a joining call, and a final call, each broadcast blind with no response expected from the ground (TC AIM RAC 4.5.4).
Circuit calls & landing clearance at Pitt Meadows (CYPK)
Pitt Meadows (CYPK) · Practises circuit reporting and a landing clearance: a downwind report, a final report, and reading back a landing clearance correctly (TC AIM RAC 4.5.2; ICAO Doc 9432 Manual of Radiotelephony, ch. 4).
Asking for a circuit exercise at Boundary Bay (CZBB)
Boundary Bay (CZBB) · Practises requesting a circuit exercise, such as a touch-and-go, from the downwind leg, handling a possible 'unable' from ATC, and reading back a landing clearance (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Circuit Exercises pp. 32-33; Basic Circuit Pattern pp. 29-30).
Departure from an uncontrolled aerodrome at Brampton (CNC3, ATF)
Brampton-Caledon (CNC3) · Practises the self-announced calls used departing an uncontrolled aerodrome on the aerodrome traffic frequency, with the UNICOM closed so nothing answers: a taxi broadcast, a ready-for-departure broadcast, a taking-off broadcast, and a call leaving the area (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, MF Start Up/Taxi/Takeoff pp. 54-55 and Aerodrome Traffic Frequency pp. 56-57).
Sent around at Langley Regional (CYNJ)
Langley Regional (CYNJ) · Practises being sent around: reporting final, being told by ATC to pull up and go around because the runway is not available, reading that back correctly, and rejoining the circuit for another approach (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Pull Up p. 44 and Landing p. 41).
Traffic you cannot see at Pitt Meadows (CYPK)
Pitt Meadows (CYPK) · Practises answering a traffic advisory honestly: saying LOOKING FOR TRAFFIC when you cannot see the aircraft ATC has pointed out, and TRAFFIC IN SIGHT only once you genuinely have it, which the NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide (Traffic, p. 34) is explicit about.
Out to the practice area from Abbotsford (CYXX)
Abbotsford (CYXX) · Practises the everyday training flight the circuit never teaches: a taxi request that states the practice area and your working altitude, a position report to enroute traffic as you leave the zone, and a practice area report that outlines your block of airspace so other aircraft can picture where you are (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Initial Clearance p. 20, General Position Report p. 36, Practice Area Position Report p. 37).
Advanced
Full circuit session at Boundary Bay (CZBB)
Boundary Bay (CZBB) · A full gate-to-gate circuit session: a taxi request, a line-up-and-wait instruction, a takeoff clearance, downwind and final reports, a touch-and-go and a full-stop circuit, a landing clearance, and taxiing in, each with its own readback (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide: Taxi p. 21, Line Up/Line Up and Wait p. 25, Takeoff p. 26, Basic Circuit Pattern pp. 29-30, Circuit Exercises p. 32, Landing p. 41, Taxi Instructions After Landing p. 45).
Ready for departure at Langley Regional (CYNJ)

Busy frequency at Langley Regional (CYNJ)
Langley Regional (CYNJ) · Practises staying alert on a busy frequency when another aircraft's callsign closely resembles your own, and asking for clarification before acting on a call that might not be yours (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Similar Call Signs pp. 9-10; Readback/Hearback).
Ready for departure at Boundary Bay (CZBB)
Boundary Bay (CZBB) · Practises a line-up-and-wait instruction, which the guide is explicit is NOT a takeoff clearance, and reading back each of the two correctly (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Line Up/Line Up and Wait p. 25; Takeoff p. 26).

Inbound to the zone at Abbotsford (CYXX)

Ready for departure at Springbank (CYBW)
Springbank (CYBW) · Practises reading back exactly what ATC actually says rather than what you expect to hear, including a mandatory hold-short instruction and a takeoff clearance later in the same call (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Hold Short p. 23; Readback/Hearback).
A rough-running engine near Abbotsford (CYXX)
Abbotsford (CYXX) · Practises the urgency call most pilots never rehearse: recognising that a rough-running engine is a Pan Pan rather than a Mayday, giving ATC the situation, position, request, intentions and persons on board in one transmission, and updating the unit once safely on the ground (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Emergency Communications and Pan Pan, p. 46).
