Uncontrolled aerodrome arrival at Chilliwack (CYCW, MF)

Intermediate · Chilliwack (CYCW) · ~3 min

Practises the self-announced calls used arriving at an uncontrolled aerodrome on the mandatory frequency: an inbound call, a joining call, and a final call, each broadcast blind with no response expected from the ground (TC AIM RAC 4.5.4).

The situation

You are the pilot of C-GABC, a Cessna 172 inbound to Chilliwack (CYCW) for a full-stop landing. Chilliwack is uncontrolled, with no tower. You broadcast your intentions on the mandatory frequency so other traffic knows where you are. You have just tuned to the MF. Nobody is going to tell you who else is out here -- there is no controller and no ATIS -- so listen, and build the picture from what you hear.
