Out to the practice area from Abbotsford (CYXX)
Practises the everyday training flight the circuit never teaches: a taxi request that states the practice area and your working altitude, a position report to enroute traffic as you leave the zone, and a practice area report that outlines your block of airspace so other aircraft can picture where you are (NAV CANADA VFR Phraseology guide, Initial Clearance p. 20, General Position Report p. 36, Practice Area Position Report p. 37).
The situation
You are the pilot of C-GABC, a Cessna 172 on the apron at Abbotsford (CYXX), going out to the practice area to work on steep turns and slow flight. Call Abbotsford Ground for taxi. This is the flight you will make more than any other while you train, and it uses three calls the circuit never asks for.
